Meet Olivia – Chef, Founder & Curator of KitchenGlance

Hi, I’m Olivia – Welcome to My Kitchen at KitchenGlance

If you’re reading this, it probably means you love food as much as I do — the kind of food that warms your soul, makes your kitchen smell like home, and brings people together around the table.

My name is Olivia, and I’m the cook, recipe creator, and story-sharer behind KitchenGlance. This little corner of the internet is where I get to pour all my love for food, flavor, and family into something I can share with you — and it all started long before I ever stepped into a professional kitchen.

I grew up in a family that owned a small, cozy restaurant — the kind where everyone knows your name, and grandma’s lasagna always runs out before noon. From a very young age, I was more interested in stirring soup pots than watching cartoons. I spent most of my childhood next to my grandmother, who taught me how to cook with intuition, patience, and a whole lot of heart.

She believed in cooking slowly, seasoning with feeling, and tasting everything — twice. Every recipe she passed down was more than just a list of ingredients — it was a lesson in love, and in caring for others through food. To this day, her handwritten notes are some of my most treasured possessions.

But as much as I loved our little family kitchen, I wanted to take my skills further. After culinary school, I worked my way up through the chaos and fire of professional kitchens. Eventually, I became an executive chef at a 5-star hotel in New York City, where I spent over 12 years perfecting the balance between art, flavor, and precision. I led a team of incredibly talented chefs, designed seasonal menus, and cooked for everyone from world travelers to celebrities — but the highlight was always the moments when something truly heartfelt came out of the kitchen.

Even with all the glamor and challenge of that world, part of me missed the simplicity and joy of cooking the way I did as a little girl — messy, slow, and full of warmth. That’s when the idea for KitchenGlance was born.

This website is a tribute to both parts of my journey: the fire of the professional kitchen, and the soul of my grandmother’s stove. Here, you’ll find recipes that work — not just because they’ve been tested (they have), but because they come from a place of honesty, care, and culinary experience.

Whether I’m showing you how to make perfect creamy scrambled eggs, bake rustic sourdough bread, or elevate a simple family dinner, my goal is to make sure you feel confident in the kitchen — like you have a chef in your corner who’s also your friend.

Cooking isn’t just about feeding people. It’s about memory. Comfort. Celebration. It’s about creating something beautiful out of everyday ingredients. And here at KitchenGlance, I want to give you a place to find that inspiration again and again.

So come on in. Pull up a chair. Pour yourself something warm.
Let’s cook something meaningful — together.

With all my heart,
Olivia
